Facebook Introduces Its Dating Feature in Colombia

Facebook has rolled down its dating feature in Colombia as the country has accepted dating culturally.

At least 200 million people on Facebook have mentioned their relationship status single or complicated. Facebook came with the idea to get some of them to mingle.

It has not been announced when this dating feature will be available in the rest of the world but if you are in Colombia and looking for the love of your life, then just log into your Facebook account.

Facebook Dating was first announced in May this year but finally, it has arrived in the South American country. Now, the users can look for a match on the social media network but their dating activity will not be visible to their family and friends.

This feature will be separate from Facebook and completely opt-in. Facebook also promised that your Facebook friends will not be shown as your match. In fact, the match will be from the broad Facebook community based on your common interests.

Though Facebook is new into the dating market it definitely has the advantage of having the data of almost the whole world. They already know the interests and hobbies of people. They will use this data to make a “meaningful” connection destined for that “long-term” relationship Facebook status.

The dating product manager of Facebook said that of a user opt-in to the service, he would be required to first verify his location and then set up a profile which can include a short introduction of himself. This service will also require him to upload 12 photos or answer a brief personality questionnaire.

Based on the entered data, Facebook will show the person suggested match list that can be filtered based on almost anything like age, distance, or height.

This service, however, will not allow users to select the match based solely on their looks. The person would have to mention that they are not interested or comment on some of the content on their profile.

If the match would respond back, both would be put into a conversation window together to further the interaction as they choose.

Facebook assures that any conversations that you have through Facebook Dating stay in the Facebook Dating chat. It will not appear in the messenger.

Colombia has 30 million active Facebook users and the country has openly accepted dating which is why Facebook decided to start this feature from there.
